From the acclaimed game development studio DontNod comes Vampyre, a new action RPG game set in 1918 London. The game is set for release sometime in 2017, and will be present at E3 2016 in Los Angeles from June 14-16. The game offers a uniquely immersive experience, with strong and engaging narratives that incorporate vampire mythology.
New images from the game have been released today which showcase the
protagonist’s duality — can you be both a savior and a monster?
The story follows Dr. Jonathan Reid, a new vampire who is torn between his doctor’s oath to protect life, and his bloodthirsty need to kill. At the same time, London is suffering from the Spanish Flu pandemic. As a doctor, your first instinct would be to help and heal people. However, as a vampire, you are a lethal predator — violent and deadly. The game explores the moral dilemmas that Reid faces. As a Vampyr, he must accept the need to sacrifice others to survive. Feeding on people is the basis for character progression and allows you to learn supernatural powers and talents that will improve persuasion, locomotion, survivability and combat. The dilemma isn’t “should I kill people?” but rather, “who should I kill?”
Killing in the game will have a rippling effect on London’s environment, and you will have to live with the repercussions and their death on your conscience. The developers explain, for example, that if you feed on a renowned doctor from the city hospital, you could progressively see the health conditions of patients drop.
